Leeds Test England outclassed India

England defeated the Indian cricket team by an innings and 76 runs on the fourth day of the Headingley Leeds Test to tie the five-match series 1-1 and also topped the ICC World Test Championship with 14 points. Brahman is done. The Indian cricket team failed to put up much resistance in front of the English fast bowlers. The English players outclassed the Indian team in all aspects of the game. With this victory, Joe Root became the English captain to win the most Test matches and he topped the list with 27 Test victories. Prior to that, England had won 26 of 51 Test matches between 2003 and 2008 under Michael Vaughan.

Joe Root led the English cricket team in 2017 and under him England have played 55 Test matches. Joe Root has won his 17th captaincy on English soil. England captain Andrew Strauss has won the most 19 Test matches on wickets. Root is now just four Tests behind Alastair Cook, who has led England in the most 59 Tests, and will be named the captain of the English team that has led England in the most Tests this year. Will There are two Tests left in the current series. "Leading the English team was my childhood dream," Root said. He will also lead the English team in the five-match Ashes series against Australia.

The fourth Test of the series between England and India will start at the Oval on Thursday. The fifth and final Test of the series will be played on September 10 at Old Trafford.

In the third Test at Headingley Leeds, Virat Kohli's decision to bat first after winning the toss proved disastrous for the team, which he soon realized. The English team was dedicated to avenging the Lord's Test defeat. James Anderson and Oli Robinson skillfully used the new ball on a wicket conducive to fast bowlers. Anderson showed an extraordinary display of in-swing and out-swing bowling which was impossible for Indian batsmen to play. In the face of devastating bowling, the Indian team piled up only 78 runs and only two players managed to reach double digits.

Opener Rahul Anderson got the first ball caught by Butler on his fifth ball and gave India the first blow. At that time, India had not even opened an account. Then in the fifth over, Anderson also got the most reliable Chattiswar Pujara caught out by Butler. Captain Virat Kohli came to handle the team's sinking boat but he also had a hard time playing the swing bowling of Oli Robinson and Anderson and he could not stay on the wicket for long. Kohli caught Butler on a beautiful ball from Anderson. He scored only seven runs. India's score was 21 runs.

Rohit Sharma was on the other side of the wicket in front of the English bowlers but he could not make runs. He teamed up with Ajinkya Rihanna for the fourth wicket to take the team to 56, while Rihanna caught Robinson's ball to Butler for a total of 18 runs. At lunch, India had four wickets for 56 runs. After lunch, along with Robinson, Sam Curran and Craig Overton ended the Indian innings at just 78 runs. Six players could add only 22 runs. Rohit Sharma remained the top scorer with 19 runs. Anderson had five maidens in eight overs. He made three major catches for six runs. Overton took three wickets, Sam Curran and Oli Robinson took two wickets each. 16 extra runs was the third highest score of the Indian innings.

In reply, English openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed started the first innings confidently and provided a solid foundation for the team through a century partnership of the first wicket which enabled the English team to score 432 runs in the first innings and this score was unbeatable for India. Conquest proved to be a mountain. Like the English bowlers, the Indian bowlers failed to take advantage of the wicket. Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns shared 135 for the first wicket. Burns was clean bowled by Mohammad Shami on a personal score of 61. England's opening pair formed a century partnership against India at home after 10 years. In the 2011 Edgbaston Test, Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook shared 186 for the first wicket.

This was England's second opening century partnership in five years. Earlier, the Century Opening Partnership was also held in Rajkot, India, in which Haseeb Hameed along with Alastair Cook scored 180 runs for the first wicket in England's second innings in his debut Test. Haseeb had completed his first Test half-century and was bowled out for 82 runs. It was the largest opening partnership of any cricket team visiting India in the third or fourth innings. After Burns, Haseeb Hameed could not stay on the wicket for long and on a personal score of 68, he could not understand Jadeja's ball and became bold.

In-form captain Joe Root teamed up with David Milne to bat aggressively and the two entertained cricket fans with beautiful strokes around the ground. The Indian bowlers failed to stop him from scoring free runs. He added 139 runs for the third wicket. Milan fell victim to Mohammad Siraj for 70 runs. Captain Jay Root continued to run with Johnny Beer Stowe and completed his magnificent century in the second series. Beer Stowe gives wicket to Mohammad Shami for 29 runs

On the third day of the match, England made a mountain of 432 runs with the help of Sam Kiran 15 and Craig Overton 32 runs and took a lead of 354 runs over India. Mohammad Shami took four wickets while Mohammad Siraj Jadeja and Bamra took two wickets each.

The Indian team needed a good and stable opening partnership to avoid an innings defeat but the duo of Rohit Sharma and Rahul could not live up to that expectation and Rahul was bowled out for just eight runs. Chattiswar Pujara, who has played the role of male batsman several times in difficult times, handled the situation with Sharma and batted confidently in the second wicket partnership, adding 82 runs. Sharma scored 59 runs and got LBW on Robinson's ball. At that time, India's score was 116 runs. Captain Kohli also started the innings confidently and by the end of the third day's play, without losing any more wickets, the team's score was 215 for two. At this stage, it seemed that the Indian cricket team would be able to finish ahead of England.

But on the fourth day, instead of Anderson, Robinson did his best to destroy the Indian batting line with a new ball and England needed only 20 overs to bowl out the remaining eight Indian players. Pujara could not add to his previous day's score and he became LBW on Robinson's ball at 91. The umpire did not dismiss the appeal. England took a review in which Pujara was declared out.

Fast bowler Oli Robinson, playing in the fourth Test of his career, found it difficult for the Indian batsmen to play. When Ajinkya Rihanna came to play, Virat Kohli could not support him. Kohli completed his half-century when his score was 55 and he caught Root on Robinson's ball. At that time, India had scored 237 runs for four wickets. Rihanna was hunted down by Anderson. Rashabh became the target of Pant Robinson. India's top four batsmen returned to the pavilion in just 27 runs in the first hour. At this stage, India's defeat seemed certain. Ravindra Jadeja batted aggressively and scored 30 runs. Apart from him, no other player could enter the double digits. Everton, Robinson and Moin Ali wrapped up the Indian chessboard with 278 runs. Oli Robinson took five wickets for 65 runs which is his best bowling. Everton took three wickets while Moin Ali and Anderson took one wicket each. Robinson was named man of the match for his victory.

India suffered their second innings defeat in 64 Tests under Virat Kohli. Earlier, Root XI had beaten Kohli XI by 159 runs in an innings in the Lord's Test in August 2018. In the Lord's Test, Chris Vokes had an excellent all-round performance and scored his only and first Test century. 137 not out in the winning innings is the best score of his Test career.

In the Leeds Test, England fast bowler James Anderson took 400 Test wickets for the English wickets. He is now second only to Mathia Murali Dharan in the list of bowlers who have taken more wickets at home. The Sri Lankan wizard spinner has taken 493 wickets in 73 Tests while Anderson has taken 400 wickets in 94 Tests. Rishabh Pant was the 400th victim of James Anderson.

This is India's third lowest score after winning the toss and batting first. Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first in the Delhi Test against the West Indies in November 1987, the Indian team was bowled out for 76 in the first innings. India's captain was Dilip Vengsarkar and West Indies' Vivian Richards. West Indies won the Test match by five wickets. India's lowest score in the innings is 36 runs when the Indian innings was wrapped up by Australian fast bowlers for only 36 runs.

This is the second lowest score of any team in the last 50 years when deciding to bat first against England. The Pakistani team also decided to bat first in Birmingham in 2010 and returned to the pavilion at 72. This is India's third lowest overall score against England in an innings. In 1974, the Indian team was bowled out for 42 in the second innings of the Lord's Test and in 1952 for 58 in the Old Trafford Test.

This was the third time in the history of cricket that the opposing team took the lead on the first day without losing a wicket after the first batting team was dismissed. England did the same in the 2010 Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. New Zealand took a 56-run lead on the first day of the 2001 Hamilton Test after being bowled out for just 104 in the Pakistan wheel innings.
